Hi everyone! I was in a major slump this month, so I only read 12 books in March. Luckily, I didn't DNF any of them, so that makes me happy; however, I did fully reread a five-book-long hockey romance series this month. Anyway, let's get into it!
In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde: I rated this book 5/5 stars and finished it on March 3rd. This is a spin-off from the Windy City series and follows Emmett and Reese. Lemme tell you guys, this book put me in a reading slump for the entire month. Yes, THE ENTIRE MONTH! What? It was incredible. Reese and Emmett are everything, and I thought this was a perfect ending to the Windy City series. Please go read it if you haven't, specifically Caught Up and Play Along to read this one. I loved it!
"As the first female team owner in Major League Baseball, Reese Remington has spent her entire life preparing for this role. With a sharp mind and years of experience working behind the scenes, she’s more than qualified. But the public only sees a woman in a man’s world―not the person who’s earned their place on the field. Under constant scrutiny and pressure to prove herself, Reese can’t afford distractions. Especially one that comes in the form of the team’s tempting field manager who questions her every decision. Emmett Montgomery is a former All-Star turned coach who treats his players like family and the field like home. After years of running the team his way, the last thing he wants is a new boss, let alone one who seems ice-cold and laser-focused on business. But forced to spend long hours―and too many away games―side by side, he begins to see the fire beneath Reese’s control, the heart behind her ambition, and the unwavering determination to prove herself. When heated banter turns into sizzling chemistry, professional boundaries blur and the spark between them becomes impossible to resist. But Reese is constantly reminded of how many people are waiting for her to fail, and the safest move is to keep Emmett at arm’s length―for the sake of the team, the season, and her career. But keeping their distance is one game neither of them can seem to win."
Vow of Deception by Rina Kent: I rated this ebook 3/5 stars and finished it on March 6th. This is the first book in the Deception trilogy and follows Lia and Adrian. I mean, I guess it was fine. I spent the entire book confused, which wasn't great. I don't plan on continuing honestly, and this was a miss for me.
"My husband. My tormentor. The most notorious man in the city offers me a job. Act as his dead wife. Adrian Volkov isn't the type of person who takes no for an answer. He commands with an iron fist and all his orders are met. When he approaches me with the offer, I have two options. Go to prison or put myself under his wrath. I choose to have a roof over my head. What's so hard about acting, right? Wrong. The moment I step into his wife's shoes, everything spirals out of control. My only way of survival is through Adrian. Or is it?"
Face Off by Chelsea Curto: I rated this ebook 5/5 stars and finished it on March 14th. This is the first book in the DC Stars series and follows Maverick and Emmy! This was a reread for me; the first time I read this was June 2025, and lemme tell you, that reread hit HARD, you guys. I love Maverick and Emmy. I couldn't even tell you what specifically I like because there are so many things. I just love them. I think anyone would love this series.
"Emerson (Emmy) Hartwell has waited for a spot on an NHL roster since she became a professional hockey player, and this season, she’ll finally get a chance to showcase her talents with the struggling D.C. Stars. Maverick Miller is the best player in the league, but he’s never had a winning record. Team captain and desperate to turn things around, he agrees to play nice with the fiery new left-winger even though they’re total opposites. After a night where the tension between them reaches a tipping point and they fall in bed together, Emmy and Maverick vow it was only one time. Just once to get it out of their systems so they can play better and help their team. It doesn’t mean anything. She doesn’t date hockey players. He’s a notorious playboy who doesn’t date. Period. Except…what should’ve been just once happens again, then again. They tell each other their friends with benefits arrangement is only for the season, but despite facing off on the ice, behind closed doors, the pair is nothing but fire."
Power Play by Chelsea Curto: I rated this ebook 5/5 stars and finished it on March 15th. This is the second book in the DC Stars series and follows Liam and Piper! This was a reread for me; the first time I read this was June 2025, and somehow, again, the reread hit hard! This was my least favorite in the series, and while it's still at the bottom, I'm ranking them differently since they're all 5 and 6-star reads. I loved Liam and Piper, though. Again, I think this series is for everyone.
"Piper Mitchell needs one thing to go her way. Divorced, feeling stuck in her professional life and terrified of reentering the world of dating, she’s decided she’s going to work on something she can control: learning how to be good in the bedroom. Enter Liam Sullivan. The star NHL goalie might not be a people person, but he's the perfect teacher. He knows what he's doing behind closed doors, and with a little convincing, he agrees to be Piper's guide. Things between them are casual and easy. Something they can both benefit from. And when a road trip to Vegas has Piper and Liam waking up from a night they can’t remember with matching wedding rings, they decide to figure out how much more fun they can have as husband and wife. It’s just for the hockey season. It doesn’t mean anything. But as the clock ticks down on their fake-marriage-with-benefits, can Piper and Liam make it work in the real world? Or will their relationship be a power play straight to disaster?"
Slap Shot by Chelsea Curto: I rated this ebook 6/5 stars and finished it on March 15th. This is the third book in the DC Stars series and follows Hudson and Madeline! This was a reread for me; the first time I read this was June 2025, and guys, THIS HIT HARD TOO!!! I couldn't stop thinking about this book, to the point that I changed my rating from five stars to six. The way Chelsea Curto writes is just incredible. I need this in my veins!!!!!
"Hudson Hayes, star defenseman for the DC Stars, needs help. He’s been looking for a private chef for months but keeps coming up short. With the NHL season starting and no prospects in sight, he’s close to giving up. Madeline Galloway needs a job. Recently let go from her executive chef position in Las Vegas, she’s desperate as can be when she reaches out to an old acquaintance about a possible job opportunity….in DC. After hitting it off with her prospective employer, the blond hockey star who seems to have a heart of gold, she and her daughter, Lucy, make the move east. The rules were simple: no personal relationships. No falling for the romantic guy who always made her smile, even if they were living together and spending all their free time with each other. But after a kiss on New Year’s Eve, everything changes. The lines blur. Being Hudson’s friend—and only his friend—is the last thing on her mind. And when Hudson learns American Sign Language for her daughter? It might be a slap shot to the heart."
Hat Trick by Chelsea Curto: I rated this ebook 6/5 stars and finished it on March 17th. This is the fourth book in the DC Stars series and follows Riley and Lexi! This was a reread for me; the first time I read this was June 2025, and this might be my favorite reread so far. I cried THREE TIMES reading this!!! I wanna read this all over again right now, actually. This genuinely changed my brain chemistry. Wow. Just wow.
"Riley Mitchell has everything he could ever want. He’s a back-to-back Stanley Cup champion. He has great friends, a fun life, and he’s living out his dream of playing hockey in the NHL. Except one night, everything changes. After a car accident leaves him with an amputated right leg, he struggles with his identity. Who is he away from the ice? How is he supposed to live without the sport that means everything to him? Enter Lexi Armstrong, the DC Stars athletic trainer assigned to Riley’s rehabilitation. Independent, proudly single, and a sarcastic ray of sunshine, she’s determined to help Riley feel better not just physically, but mentally too. And the friends with benefits arrangement they fall into? Definitely not part of the rehabilitation plan. It was supposed to be one night, but when just once turns into something much deeper than a romp in the bedroom, they have a decision to make. Do they fight their feelings and keep things purely physical? Or can they pull off a Hat Trick and find something that lasts forever?"
Sin Bin by Chelsea Curto: I rated this ebook 5/5 stars and finished it on March 20th. This is the fifth book in the DC Stars series and follows Brody and Hannah! This was a reread for me; the first time I read this was December 2025 and this hit much harder the second time. I love Brody and Hannah. Honestly, I love every couple. They're all lovely. Rereading this affirmed how badly I need Grant and Amelia's book. Please go read this series.
"Brody Saunders is the best coach in the NHL. Grumpy, menacing and with two Stanley Cups under his belt as the head coach of the DC Stars, the last thing he should be doing is hooking up with his player’s younger sister. After the night of their one night stand almost ends in tragedy, he pulls away, vowing to pretend like their rendezvous ever happened. Hannah Everett is a world champion figure skater who doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life. When she acknowledges she’s burnt out with the sport she’s spent her whole life doing, she realizes she needs all the help she can get to find herself, and her love of skating, again. What starts as an agreement for Hannah to coach Brody’s daughter for the figure skating season, quickly turns into something more. Between the time they’re spending together on and off the ice, Hannah starts to see Brody isn’t the short-tempered man the media portrays him to be, and the longer they fight their connection, the more the tension between them grows. Falling in love with the girl fourteen years younger than him isn’t part of Brody’s plan, but can he stay out of the sin bin when the world finally learns about their relationship?"
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi: I rated this book 4/5 stars and finished it on March 26th. This is the first book in the Shatter Me series. I had been eager to start this since I just bought all the books, and I needed something that wasn't hockey romance (since I did re-binge that entire series this month). I picked this up and absolutely loved it. It's so fast-paced! I loved Adam and hated Warner, and the action was actioning. I loved this.
"Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color. The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war—and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now. Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior."
Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi: I rated this book 3/5 stars and finished it on March 26th. This is the first novella in the Shatter Me series. When I read this, I didn't like Warner at all. Now I do, but when I read this, I did not. I just felt like seeing his POV was pointless, but now I get it.
"Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow."
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi: I rated this book 4.5/5 stars and finished it on March 28th. This is the second book in the Shatter Me series. Somehow, I loved this more than the first one. I did start to dislike Adam, though. I can confirm Aaron and Juliette are literally everything to me, and Kenji? My favorite side character I've ever read. I loved him.
"It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from. She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s—and Warner’s—immunity to her killer skin."
Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi: I rated this book 3.5/5 stars and finished it on March 28th. This is the second novella in the Shatter Me series. I kinda liked reading about Adam, actually! I liked seeing his feelings and priorities change, and he kinda grew up, which I liked a lot.
"As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam's focus couldn't be further from the upcoming battle. He's reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend's life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James's safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It's time for war. On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam's newly discovered half brother, won't be that easy. The Reestablishment can't tolerate a rebellion, and they'll do anything to crush the resistance... including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about."
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi: I rated this book 6/5 stars and finished it on March 29th. This is the third book in the Shatter Me series. Okay, so this was INCREDIBLE!! "You are magnificent, you are extraordinary. Ignite my love, Ignite." WHAT!!! Ugh. Aaron and Juliette are actually everything. I genuinely need to tattoo this book on my forehead. One of my favorite reads OF THE YEAR!!!
"With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that's not all he wants with her."
So, that's it! A small selection for sure, but I have high hopes for April. I'll see you then!
